Domestic nuclear power emergency diesel generator sets have made major breakthroughs

Zhongyuan Foreign Engineering Company and Shaanxi Diesel Engine Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. recently held a acceptance and delivery ceremony for the nuclear-grade emergency diesel unit of the Pakistan Chashima project in Xi'an, which marks that China's nuclear power emergency diesel generator sets have been initially localized.
Nuclear-grade emergency diesel units are one of the main equipment of nuclear power plants. Due to the difficulty of design, installation and testing, they have been relying on imports before. In 2006, Zhongyuan Foreign Engineering Company signed a contract with Shaanxi Diesel Engine Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., to which Shaanxi Diesel Heavy Industry shall undertake the manufacturing task of the nuclear-grade emergency diesel unit of the Chashima project in Pakistan.
According to Gong Huiming, general manager of Shaanxi Chai Heavy Industry, after more than two years of design, manufacturing, safety, earthquake resistance and other tests, Shaanxi Chai Heavy Industry has completed the principle design of the unit mechanical auxiliary system, determined the safety, earthquake resistance and quality assurance levels of the supporting equipment of the unit system, and successfully passed the acceptance after multiple tests. This marks a major breakthrough in the localization of the new generation of nuclear-grade emergency diesel generator sets , one of the core technologies of China's nuclear power plants, laying the foundation for the comprehensive localization of this technology and equipment and the realization of domestic supply.
