Nuclear-grade emergency diesel generator sets are one of the main equipment of nuclear power plants. In 2006, China Zhongyuan Foreign Engineering Corporation signed a contract with Shaanxi Diesel Engine Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., and Shaanxi Diesel Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. will undertake the manufacturing task of nuclear-grade emergency diesel units for the Chashma Project in Pakistan.

According to Gong Huiming, general manager of Shaanxi Diesel Heavy Industry, after more than two years of design, manufacturing and seismic resistance testing, Shaanxi Diesel Heavy Industry has completed the principle design of the mechanical auxiliary system of the unit and determined the seismic resistance and quality assurance levels of the supporting equipment of the unit system. After many tests, it has successfully passed the acceptance test. This marks a major breakthrough in the localization of the new generation of nuclear-grade emergency diesel generator sets, one of the core technologies of my country's nuclear power plants, laying the foundation for the comprehensive localization and domestic supply of this technical equipment.
