The diesel generator set is composed of an internal combustion engine and a synchronous generator. The power of the internal combustion engine is limited by the mechanical load and thermal load of the components, which is called the rated power. The rated power of the AC synchronous generator refers to the long-term power at the rated speed. During continuous operation, the rated power output is usually called the matching ratio between the rated power output of the diesel engine and the rated power output of the synchronous alternator.

1. Overview
Diesel generator set is a kind of small power generation equipment, which refers to the power machinery that uses diesel as fuel and a diesel engine as the prime mover to drive the generator to generate electricity. Diesel generator sets generally consist of diesel engines, generators, control boxes, fuel tanks, storage batteries for starting and control, protection devices, emergency cabinets and other components. The whole unit can be fixed on the foundation for positioning use, or it can be mounted on a trailer for mobile use.
Diesel generator sets are non-continuous operation power generation equipment. If they operate continuously for more than 12 hours, their output power will be about 90% lower than the rated power.
Although the power of diesel generator sets is low, due to their small size, flexibility, lightness, complete facilities, and easy operation and maintenance, they are widely used in mining, railways, field construction sites, road traffic maintenance, as well as factories, enterprises, hospitals and other departments , as a backup power source or temporary power source. In recent years, the newly developed unattended fully automatic emergency power station has further expanded the scope of use of this type of generator set.

2. Classification and specifications
Diesel generator sets are classified according to the size of the generator output power, and the unit energy ranges from 10kW to 750kW. Each specification is divided into several structures: protection type (equipped with over-speed, high water temperature, low oil pressure protection devices), emergency type and mobile power station type. Among them, mobile power stations are divided into high-speed off-road types whose speed can match the speed of cars and ordinary mobile types with low speed.
3. Ordering Notes
The export inspection of diesel generator sets is based on relevant technical or economic indicators stipulated in the contract or technical agreement. Users should pay attention to the following points when selecting and signing a contract:
(1) If there is a gap between the operating environment conditions and the calibrated environmental condition values ​​of the diesel generator set, the temperature, humidity and altitude values ​​should be stated when signing the contract to provide appropriate models and supporting equipment;
(2) Explain the cooling method adopted during use, especially for large-capacity units, which should be paid more attention to;
(3) When ordering, in addition to the unit model, you should also specify which model to choose;
(4) The voltage regulation rates of diesel generator sets are 1%, 2%, and 2.5% of the rated voltage respectively. Which one is chosen should also be explained;
(5) During normal supply, an appropriate amount of wearing parts will be provided, and any other needs should be stated.
4. Inspection items and methods
Diesel generator sets are complete sets of products, including diesel engines, generators, control components, protection devices, etc. Complete machine inspection of export products includes the following:
(1) Review of product technology and inspection data;
(2) Product specifications, models, and main structural dimensions;
(3) The overall appearance quality of the product;
(4) Unit performance: The main technical parameters include unit operation adaptability, reliability and sensitivity of various automatic protection devices;
(5) Other items specified in the contract or technical agreement.
