When the diesel generator set overheated, the oil temperature will rise, destroy the normal lubrication effect, pose a threat to the normal operation of the diesel generator set, and in serious cases, it will cause safety accidents.

Below we analyze the main reasons for overheating of diesel engines are:

1. Cooling system failure:

lack of water in the radiator;
damaged water pump impeller or blocked by sludge and debris;
bubbles in the water pipe form air plugs;
severe scale in the cooling system, or water passages are blocked;
the fan belt is loose, and the fan working efficiency is reduced;
the scale in the radiator is severe, and the external surface area is more polluted, which greatly reduces its heat dissipation efficiency.

2. The combustion process fails

inlet, the exhaust valve is not closed tightly, and the valve gap is too small;
too much carbon deposit in the combustion chamber, and the heat conductivity is poor, which prevents the heat in the cylinder from being transmitted to the cooling water, causing the internal temperature of the cylinder to be very high;
the oil supply volume of each cylinder is uneven, and the oil supply volume of some cylinders is too large, causing local cylinders to overheat;
the oil supply angle is too small, and the diesel engine will produce a post-combustion phenomenon, causing the diesel engine to be severely heated.

3. Improper use and maintenance,

the diesel engine is overloaded for a long time, which makes the diesel engine temperature too high;
due to the lubricating oil circuit blockage, the oil pressure drops, the amount of oil is small, resulting in poor lubrication;
dry friction occurs on the lubricating surface, causing the local temperature to increase sharply.

4. Generator failure

, the stator core insulation is damaged, causing short circuit between the pieces, causing the local eddy current loss in the iron core to increase and heat. In severe cases, the stator winding will damage the stator winding and break the parallel wires of the stator winding, causing the current of other wires to increase and heat.

The above is the cause of overheating failures that diesel generator sets need to be vigilant in summer. While preventing equipment from overheating, it is also necessary to prevent heatstroke and cool down by personnel to carry out production operations and power supply production.
