Simple troubleshooting of water leakage in generator set water pump bearing

During the operation of the generator set , the operator will check the equipment status regularly and keep relevant records. Among them, the problem of water pump bearing leakage is one of the common faults. Let’s learn how to troubleshoot this fault with Haixing Power.

This kind of fault is generally caused by damage to the water seal. Troubleshooting water leakage in the water pump bearing:

1. Check the overflow hole on the fresh water pump housing and find that the overflow hole is blocked by a wooden rod. After clamping it out with pliers, the cooling water leaks out from the overflow hole, and the bearing overflow disappears. When the overflow hole is blocked by the wooden rod, the pressure is generated by the rotation of the water pump impeller, causing cooling water to be sprayed out from the water pump bearing gap. After removing the wooden rod, the cooling water left in the water seal leaks directly from the overflow hole in the pump housing.

2. After shutting down the machine, the water seal was dismantled and inspected. It was found that the water seal was damaged. After replacement, the water leakage of the fresh water pump disappeared.

Fault handling involves disassembly inspection of shutdown and water seals. These two steps need to be noted. The shutdown step must be correct first, and the disassembly operation must be careful and patient. Choose skilled technicians to avoid causing additional damage to the equipment.
