The cavitation of the generator set refers to the surface of the outer wall of the wet cylinder liner of the diesel generator set in contact with the coolant, which is damaged into some needle-shaped holes. These holes gradually expand and deepen, forming deep holes or cracks. In what ways can the problem of cavernous erosion be prevented? Haixing Power summarized it from three aspects.
(1) Usage factor a. The temperature of the coolant that is prone to cavernous corrosion is 40℃-60℃. Therefore, during use, try to keep the coolant at a normal working temperature (80℃-85℃). b. Use the coolant specified by the manufacturer, without hard water or cooling water (liquid) containing more impurities. Experiments show that hard water containing salts and alkalis has a cavitation rate of dozens of times higher than clean soft water. c. Minimize the time of idle speed, heavy load and overload operation. d. Use fuel according to regulations to alleviate the rough work of the diesel generator caused by combustion.
(2) Maintenance factors a. Replace the coolant according to regulations and clean the cooling system in time so that the cooling system always maintains a good technical condition. b. Adjust the fuel supply advance angle and the fuel system assembly according to regulations to maintain good working performance of the fuel system and reduce the harm caused by abnormal combustion. c. Maintain good cylinder clearance, crankshaft bearing clearance and connecting rod bearing clearance to reduce knocking and vibration. d. When installing cylinder liners, pistons, connecting rods and other components, try to meet the requirements of perpendicularity and parallelism to reduce abnormal impact of pistons on cylinder liners.
(3) Manufacturing factors a. Apply anti-cavitation materials and vibration absorbing substances to the side walls of the water jacket of the diesel generator. b. Improve the hardness of the outer surface of the cylinder liner; minimize the roughness of the outer surface; and choose materials with strong anti-corrosion ability. c. Choose a suitable cylinder liner wall thickness to increase its stiffness to avoid resonance.
Through the above three aspects, you can not only understand the main causes of cavitation corrosion, but also obtain targeted treatment methods, carry out maintenance, so that the generator set can operate in an orderly manner and extend its life.
