Generator setCavitation corrosion refers to the destruction of the surface of the outer wall of the wet cylinder liner of the diesel generator set in contact with the coolant into some needle-shaped holes. These holes gradually expand and deepen, forming deep holes or cracks. In what ways can the problem of cavitation be prevented? Haixing Power made a summary from three aspects.
(1) Usage factors a. The coolant temperature that is prone to cavitation is 40℃-60℃, so try to keep the coolant at normal operating temperature (80℃-85℃) during use. b. Use the coolant specified by the manufacturer. Do not use hard water or cooling water (liquid) containing many impurities. Experiments show that hard water containing salts and alkalis has a cavitation rate dozens of times greater than clean soft water. c. Minimize the time of idling, heavy load and overload operation. d. Add fuel according to regulations to reduce the rough working of the diesel generator caused by combustion.
(2) Maintenance factors a. Replace the coolant as required and clean the cooling system in time to keep the cooling system in good technical condition. b. Adjust the fuel supply advance angle and fuel system assemblies according to regulations to maintain good working performance of the fuel system and reduce the harm caused by abnormal combustion. c. Maintain good cylinder clearance, crankshaft bearing clearance and connecting rod bearing clearance to reduce cylinder knocking and vibration. d. When installing cylinder liner, piston, connecting rod and other mechanical parts, try to meet the requirements of verticality and parallelism to reduce the abnormal impact of the piston on the cylinder liner.
(3) Manufacturing factors a. Coat anti-cavitation materials and vibration-absorbing materials on the side walls of the water jacket of the diesel generator. b. Increase the hardness of the outer surface of the cylinder liner; reduce the roughness of the outer surface as much as possible; select materials with strong cavitation resistance. c. Select appropriate cylinder liner wall thickness and increase its stiffness to avoid resonance.
Through the above three aspects of explanation, everyone can not only understand the main causes of cavitation, but also get targeted treatment methods to carry out maintenance and orderly operation of the generator set and extend its life.
