The oil of the generator set plays a lubricating role, prevents depreciation and damage caused by friction between parts during use, and increases maintenance costs. Therefore, we need to replenish the oil in time after consumption. Many people’s question is how often is it appropriate to change the oil?
Generally, the new engine will be after 50 hours of operation and 50 hours after intermediate or overhaul. The oil replacement cycle is generally carried out simultaneously with the oil filter (filter element). The oil replacement cycle is generally 250 hours or one month. Use Class 2 engine oil, the engine oil can be replaced only once after working for 400 hours, but the oil filter (filter element) must be replaced.
If you want to determine the replacement time of the diesel generator set, there are the following methods of determining:
1. Use two glass test tubes with a diameter of 0.5 cm and a length of 20 cm, and fill them with 19 cm of new engine oil and used engine oil respectively. After sealing, the two tubes are inverted at the same time to record the time of bubble rise. If the difference between the two exceeds 20%, it means that the viscosity of used engine oil has dropped too much and should be replaced.
2. Compare one drop of new engine oil and used engine oil on a white filter paper. If there are more black spots in the used oil droplets, it means that the engine oil has not deteriorated and should not be replaced; if the engine oil is dark brown, it is deteriorated and should be replaced.
Regular oil replacement helps the stability of the generator set and extends the service life of the unit. Therefore, it is very important to accurately judge the replacement time of the engine oil through the above methods, and we must keep it in mind.
