Notes on installing fuel tanks for diesel generator sets

Many provinces have 'power shortage' before the arrival of summer, and many companies purchase diesel generator sets in case of 'power shortage'. Therefore, as summer is approaching, Jiangsu Haixing Power reminds customers to pay attention to when installing fuel tanks to ensure the safe operation of the unit. Different models of diesel generator sets have corresponding standard fuel tanks and oil supply systems. There are many types of fuel tank designs, and users can design them into discrete fuel tanks of various capacity according to requirements. Users can also design the fuel tank by themselves. When installing the fuel tank of the diesel generator set, users should pay attention to the following precautions:

1. The storage location of the fuel tank is safe to prevent fire. The fuel tank or oil barrel should be placed separately in a visible place, appropriately away from the diesel generator set, and smoking is strictly stipulated that no smoking is allowed;

2. If the user makes the fuel tank by himself, he should pay attention to the fuel tank of the backup diesel generator set made of stainless steel or steel plate. Do not spray paint or galvanize the inside of the fuel tank, because they will react chemically with the diesel, producing impurities that may cause damage to the diesel generator set and reducing the quality, cleanliness and combustion efficiency of the diesel;

3. After the fuel tank is placed, the highest oil surface cannot be 2.5 meters higher than the base of the diesel generator set. If the oil surface of the large oil reservoir is higher than 2.5 meters, a daily fuel tank should be added between the large oil reservoir and the diesel generator set so that the pressure of direct oil supply shall not exceed 2.5 meters. Even during the diesel generator set shutdown, fuel is not allowed to rely on gravity to flow into the diesel engine through the inlet or injector lines;

4. The resistance at the oil port is not allowed to exceed the specified value when using a clean filter element as specified on the performance data sheet of all diesel generator sets. This resistance value is based on the fuel tank containing half of the fuel oil;

5. The end position of the fuel tank supply pipe should be about 50MM higher than the bottom of the fuel tank of the diesel generator set to prevent sediment and water from being sucked into the fuel supply pipe;

6. The connection of the fuel return pipeline should not cause shock waves in the fuel pipes of the diesel generator set;

7. The fuel capacity contained in the fuel tank should ensure daily supply;

8. The oil supply and return oil area of ​​the oil tank should be equipped with perforated partitions to reduce heat exchange in the diesel generator set.
