How to extend the service life of diesel engine turbocharger

Modern diesel engines are increasingly using pressure-increasing technology, making the oil collector more powerful, and the layout is more reasonable while the volume remains unchanged, while greatly saving energy. However, in actual work, many drivers do not know much about the performance, structure and principles of turbochargers, and the phenomenon of damage to superchargers in a short period of time is common, which not only causes great economic losses, but also affects the normal use of diesel engines. So, how to use and maintain correctly to extend the service life of the turbocharger? 1. Ensure the reliable lubrication of the turbocharger. Use supercharged diesel engine oil that meets the requirements according to the supercharger's instruction manual (usually CD-grade lubricating engine oil) and regularly check the quantity and quality of the engine oil, replace deteriorated or too dirty engine oil in a timely manner, clean or replace the engine oil filter to ensure the high cleanliness of the engine oil. 2. To ensure the high cleaning of the diesel engine air intake, maintain the sealing of the inlet and exhaust pipes of the supercharged diesel engine, regularly clean and maintain the air filter, check whether the tightening nuts or bolts are loose, whether the hose clamps are clamped, check whether there is air leakage in the air intake system, and replace the sealing gaskets to prevent dust and sand from being sucked into the compressor. Otherwise, dirt may easily lead to contamination of air filter wall plugs, compressor channels and supercharger blades, resulting in a drop in the supercharge pressure and even early wear of the blades and diesel engine parts. 3. After a new diesel engine or a new supercharger is replaced, the oil inlet pipe connector on the supercharger must be removed before starting and 50-60mL of engine oil must be added to prevent the supercharger bearing from burning out due to lack of oil during the start. 4. Before starting the diesel engine, the crankshaft should be turned and rotated several times to ensure lubrication. If possible, the standby oil should fill the oil with the oil filter and the entire lubrication system, and then start after the oil pressure is stable. Otherwise the turbocharger bearings may be damaged due to lack of lubrication during startup, because when the diesel engine is running off load and the turbocharger speed is high, even a short period of time when the oil supply to the turbocharger bearings is insufficient. 5. After the diesel engine is started, do not run at high speed immediately. After the diesel engine is started, it should run at idle for a few minutes before speeding up the operation. Otherwise, it will easily cause the supercharger bearing to burn out. Especially when the diesel engine replaces lubricant, cleans the supercharger, filter or replaces the filter element and stops for more than a week, after starting, loosens the oil inlet joint on the supercharger when it is idle, and tightens it after the lubricant oil overflows. Then, run it quickly for 3-5 minutes before loading can be operated. 6. The diesel engine cannot run at idle speed for a long time, otherwise it will easily cause the supercharger oil to leak into the compressor and cause the exhaust pipe to spray oil, increasing the oil consumption. At the same time, the long-term idle speed will be running at idle speed, and the oil pressure will be insufficient, which will easily cause the supercharger to be poorly lubricated and burn the bearings. 7. After the diesel engine is running at full load at high speed, it should not be stopped immediately and the engine should be turned off for about 5 minutes before stopping, so that all parts of the machine parts can be gradually cooled to prevent the supercharger bearing from lacking oil, the oil overheating, the supercharger bearing and turbine impeller biting, and the oil seal failing. At the same time, you should pay attention to monitoring whether there is any collision sound between the impeller and the housing of the supercharger when the diesel engine is stopped. If there is a collision sound, you should immediately disassemble the supercharger to check whether the bearing clearance is normal. 8. Regularly disassemble, inspect, clean, adjust and maintain the supercharger according to the requirements of the instruction manual. The supercharger should be cleaned once every 1,000 hours of operation (note that cleaning liquid that has a corrosive effect on aluminum and wire brushes should not be used during cleaning). Check for damage and fine cracks in the impeller, the gap between the rotor shaft and floating bearing, the axial rush of the rotor, the static and dynamic balance of the rotor, etc. If it does not comply with the regulations or is damaged, it should be adjusted, repaired or replaced.
