Precautions for safe operation of generator sets

Safe operation is the prerequisite for the use of generator sets . 1. In use

(1) The generator should be placed outdoors or in the computer room with good ventilation, and should not be close to doors, windows and ventilation openings to prevent carbon monoxide from entering the room.

(2) Do not use generators near flammable and explosive materials.

(3) The generator should be placed in a dry place. If it is required to be installed in an open air, it must be covered with canopy-style buildings to prevent contact accidents due to moisture.

(4) Do not use portable generators indoors, such as garages, carports, basements and closed occasions. Using a portable generator in these occasions, even if the windows and doors are opened or mechanical ventilation is performed, it cannot prevent the accumulation of carbon monoxide indoors, which may lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, fires, and even electric shock accidents.

2. Storage and use of fuel

(1) The generator fuel should be stored in the warehouse, and the facilities in the warehouse must comply with the regulations of the fire department.

(2) The type of fuel used should be consistent with the requirements on the generator instruction manual or label.

(3) There should be no excessive fuel in the generator, especially gasoline generator sets. If the unused time may be as long as 30 days, gasoline stabilizers should be added to prevent gasoline from volatilizing and causing accidents.

(4) Before adding fuel, the generator should be turned off first and then added after the generator cools down to prevent gasoline from gradually catching fire on high-temperature parts and causing disasters.

3. Line connection

(1) The specifications of outdoor lines must meet the requirements of the electrical load used.

(2) When using extended wires, make sure that the insulation between them and the ground is good.

(3) The generator's outlet cannot be inserted directly into the original power socket of the residential building for power supply, which will result in feedback, which may cause electric shock accidents for users powered by the same transformer. The correct way to connect is to install the power conversion switch by an electrician.
